The Carty Christmas Carol 2016
The lawnmowers have been put away, the last leaves have been cleared up and we’re chiselling the mud from our safety boots. It’s time to put our brooms, hoes and trowels down and wish our customers a very happy Christmas and a super new year.
Just to sign off, we’d like to offer you our take on a well known Christmas carol:
The Holly & The Ivy (Gardeners Version)
The holly and the ivy
when they are both full grown
Of all the trees that are in the wood
They both need a good prune
O, the rising of the sun
And the running of the mower
The whizz, whizz, whizz of the strimmer
And the digging in of manure
The holly bears a blossom
As white as lily flower
And the ivy grows up anywhere
Just anywhere it can go
The holly bears a berry
As red as any blood
But when you’ve pruned it, they’re too small
To land with any thud
The holly bears a prickle
As sharp as any thorn
And that together with Pyracantha
Makes many gardeners scorn
The holly bears a bark
But don’t let it get too thick
As to chop it down will need
Much, much more than a nick
The holly and the ivy
When they are both full grown
Of all the trees that are in the wood
They both need a good prune
